Ongoing changes to the handling of dates in the database

Starting from version 25.1 and in following versions, changes will be made to database columns representing dates and times in order to improve time zone handling and prepare for an upcoming change of our database manager

What does this mean?
Updates to these versions may take longer then usual and require more disk space. This applies in particular to large databases or multiple databases that need to be updated simultaneously.

For adaptations or integrations that are not covered by Monitor’s Support and Update Agreement, there is a risk they may stop functioning or display incorrect dates unless SQL queries are corrected. However, the changes to date time columns will not affect Monitor’s API or adaptations covered by Monitor’s Support and Update Agreement.

What can be done as a proactive measure?
Make sure to have extra disk space available as well as an up-to-date backup. The upgrade times vary depending on several factors, such as the size of the database and the number of databases being upgraded. We recommend planning for the process to take longer than usual.

Pay attention to whether a date time column used in an SQL query for an adaptation or integration is updated. Date time column changes will be published for each version here.

A query function that can be used to correct SQL has been developed to facilitate the transition during the date changes. Information about the query function is available in Monitor online help.

How can we get help updating an adaptation or integration that does not have a Support and Update Agreement?
An adaptation or integration without a Support and Update Agreement can be updated by our Adaptation department. Contact them at adaptation@monitor.se with contact information and a description of the background and purpose of the adaptation or integration. An adaptation advisor will then be in touch with a quote for the cost to update the adaptation and the cost to enter into a Support and Update Agreement. Ordinary delivery times apply.

With this information, we hope the transition to the new version will be as smooth as possible.
