Monitor steps up expansion in Gävle
A couple of years since first setting up in Gävleborg’s main city, Monitor ERP System has outgrown its current home. And after a year marked by several awards – including ERP system of the year in Germany and Sweden – we need more room to continue our growth and development. This week saw Monitor's new offices in Gävle officially open for business.
Monitor ERP System's CEO Morgan Persson kicked off the day by presenting the company’s ambitious goals. The aim is to achieve a turnover of SEK one billion within a few years; and to make this possible the company will need a workforce of 600.
“Our development curve is a bit like an ice hockey club lying horizontally – it’s been rising sharply for some time, and we expect this strong growth to continue. We've expanded widely outside Sweden and are fully focused on becoming even more global, a trend that will continue in the years ahead,” said Persson.
Monitor’s head office has always been in Hudiksvall. This will not be changing, although Persson sees a need to make it easier for the company to recruit new talent, with Gävle playing a key role.
“When we gave our name to Brynäs IF’s ice hockey arena we wanted to put ourselves on the map and invest in the long term. Not only do our new offices have capacity for 50% more employees, we’ve already started to look at the next step, and the opportunities to expand further in Gävle. We're definitely here to stay,” he added.

Along with representatives from many of Monitor’s customers in the local area, the opening was attended by Municipal Councilor Åsa Wiklund Lång, Brynäs IF Club Director Håkan Svedman, and Magnus Lemoine, a Business Developer at the University of Gävle. Everyone was there to talk about their cooperation with Monitor.
“We have a lot in common; Monitor as a company and us as a municipality. We’re both growing, and we both have a destination we want to reach. Gävle Municipality needs more of everything – schools, nurseries, infrastructure, housing – everything we need to serve more people and companies. Successful companies are vital for us to keep growing, and Monitor is a role model in this regard,” said Wiklund Lång.
Monitor has ambitious goals for the future, and must recruit to expand as planned. The establishment in Gävle is largely based on being near the university. In fact, one-third of the employees at Monitor’s Gävle office attended the University of Gävle.
“We’ve cooperated with Monitor for a long time, since before you came to Gävle. Since you started the gap-year program, a brilliant initiative which gives young people the chance to apply for work while studying during their first year at the university,” explained Magnus Lemoine from the University of Gävle.

Underlining the importance of a good skills supply for many companies, he also mentioned that the university offers two paths of particular interest to Monitor: Industrial Management and Logistics as well as IT courses, which many of the staff based at Monitor's Gävle office studied.
“Monitor plays a key role in our education council and helps drive development through commitments like guest lectures and thesis projects. Monitor is always by our side. This is really valuable to us and helps us to know we’re headed with our courses,” added Lemoine.
Brynäs IF also took the chance to congratulate Monitor on its successes and the opportunities provided by the new premises.
“Both Brynäs IF and Monitor do a lot of good things outside of their core activities. I’m incredibly impressed by how Monitor has worked so strategically in line with its business idea since day one. You are winners on your market, and we aim to do the same, as our business idea is to be a successful ice hockey club at elite level. Here we have a lot to learn from you,” said Club Director Håkan Svedman.
“I’d like to congratulate you on your fantastic offices and thank you for our partnership, which we hope will continue a long time, so we can help each other to be successful in future.”
