May sees record month for Monitor G5 upgrades
May 2022 saw Monitor break the record for the number of G5 licenses upgraded in a single month – 1,567 in total. This means that 1,567 Monitor users started running G5 across 79 manufacturing companies around the world during one single month. We decided to go behind the scenes where the hard work is taking place and ask our Consultant Manager Adrian Aptowitzer a few questions about the record number of upgrades for May, the steps required to upgrade from G4 to G5, and some tips on how to make a successful upgrade.
Can you elaborate more on the record month for license upgrades to G5, and how the trend is looking for upgrades for 2022?
“Since the beginning of 2022, with an all-time high in May we’ve seen a great increase in license upgrades to G5, which is fantastic to see, as more and more of our Monitor users are experiencing the benefits that Monitor G5 can offer them. It wouldn’t be possible without the great efforts and fantastic teamwork of every single Monitor employee, in all our departments (Consultants, development, sales, support, adaptation, etc.) Of course, there are some very important factors that help client upgrades to G5, and one of them is the fact that G5 has matured so much over the last couple of years. We are putting a lot of effort and resources into the development of G5 to make sure that we are the best solution in ERP for clients.
"We have excellent consultants that are using high-efficient processes and project methods that make it possible for us to upgrade so many of our customers and still keep on high quality. Regarding the timing, we see that several of our clients took the benefit of the public holidays we had in May and upgraded their system during these “quiet” days, where they maybe have the possibility to pause some of the production and put their resources into the upgrade process. This is for sure not a must, but it definitely makes it easier for us, and for our clients.
“I’m proud to say that we are well on our way to achieving our overall goal of license upgrades for 2022."
Can you maybe discuss the different steps involved in an upgrade process?
“I would say it is easy to get started with the upgrade process to MONITOR G5. The first step in an upgrade project is to get in contact with our team here at Monitor and show your interest in upgrading to Monitor G5. Once our team picks up the inquiry, our G5 coordinator will be in contact with them shortly to start the onboarding phase.
We have handled a lot of upgrade processes during the last years, we know the ups and the downs and we can guide you through them with our expertise.
“To start the project, shortly summarised we do a control test to see the system that the client uses, and the functions they will have available for them in Monitor G5. We then start with the Upgrade project that takes in general 3-6 months from start to GO LIVE when the client is up and running Monitor G5.
“During the month of March and April, our team also had a series of webinars for the different industries of our Monitor clients, where we go into detail and discuss an upgrading process and focus on the specific benefits of MONITOR G5 from the branch perspective. If you would like to see these webinars please visit our here and for all questions, please feel free to contact us here at Monitor.”
Can you elaborate a little more on the diversity of different companies that contributed to the May upgrade success?
“Yes, for sure, without naming any names, I can say that we have had a lot of diversity when it comes to the size of the different companies that were part of the May success – both smaller and bigger – for instance, one of the projects that stands out for me and that we can use as a reference is a big group with 12 companies in different countries all over the world and where we upgraded all users in all 12 companies at the same time. That requires good planning and great efforts from a fantastic team, containing high engaged customers and superb Monitor consultants. We have shown that we can handle this and that our competence here at Monitor is great to handle all sizes of upgrades some of them with very advanced setups.”
Can you give our clients some tips on how they will best succeed with an upgrade from Monitor G4 to G5?
"I would say one important tip I can give is that the company that is looking to upgrade their system to G5 should have good hardware to support the upgrade. Monitor G5 is a powerful program, and with that comes the fact that the customer needs an IT environment that can run Monitor G5 with high performance. A second important thing I would say is that the customer should be, from day one, engaged within the project; it is very important that the customer does test runs of their own processes. We have roughly 5,000 companies at the moment that uses Monitor and each and every one of them has their unique way of working, that is why I say test run your processes to make sure you be able to run all your daily work perfectly in Monitor G5 from day 1 after go-live.
“A third important tip I can give is that every customer that is starting an upgrade process should have a good internal project manager and project team members who are engaged, and who can drive the project from start to finish together with Monitor team.
“Finally, the last tip I can give is to listen to our expertise and trust us: we have handled a lot of upgrade processes during the last years (ca. 850 upgrades), we know the ups and the downs and we can guide you through them with our expertise.”
