  • The Smart Factory – Sunfab Hydraulics and MONITOR ERP

Sunfab Hydraulics produces high volumes of quality products for the mobile hydraulic industry worldwide. To stay ahead of the competition it needs to be at the cutting edge of technology and business management. It also requires a first-class ERP system, which it has had since teaming up with Monitor back in the 1990s.

Sunfab manufactures hydraulic pumps and motors, and its products are sold to around 60 countries worldwide. Its factory and head office are located in Hudiksvall, Sweden, and the company has around 100 employees. Sunfab’s net turnover for 2017 was SEK 211.6 million. Its delivery reliability is close to 100%, based on deliveries not being more than 3 days early or 0 days late.

"We produce around 500,000 pistons each year, to have the volume that we need," says Johan Högberg, Project Manager at Sunfab.

Each piston takes no more than two minutes to produce, from raw material to finished product. This is made possible by having a high degree of automation in the factory.

"We will continue our cooperation with Monitor to further streamline our production."

All machines are integrated with the automatic robot system in some way - and using MONITOR. The machines constantly send live data on produced units and elapsed production time back to the ERP system.

"We know exactly where we are in each production order. We have 100% trust in the input we enter into the system," adds Högberg.

Sunfab and Monitor have been close companions since the 1990s, when Sunfab first began using MONITOR ERP System.

"In the coming years we’ll increase our capacity in the factory, and will continue our cooperation with Monitor to further streamline our production," comments Marie Nilsson, CEO at Sunfab.
